I followed the recipe found here, but there are so many variations and most of them are similar.
Supplies needed:
- 3 1/2 cups of filtered water
- 1/4 cup of unflavored vodka
- 1 tsp of essential oil
- Spray bottle
Start by measuring about 1 teaspoon of essential oil. I should also mention, before mixing everything in your spray bottle, make sure your bottle will be large enough to hold everything. If you're not sure, mix everything in a bowl and use a funnel to pour into your bottle.
Then, add 1/4 cup of unflavored vodka.
Next, add 3 1/2 cups of filtered water (we're just going to ignore the fact that this picture shows the water at 1 3/4 cup. I probably measured up to the 2 cup line and realized I didn't take a picture...)
Either shake your ingredients (if you're a rebel like me and poured directly into a bottle) or stir, if using a bowl (and of course pour into your bottle and store any remaining mixture, if you have any). That's it! I got a little excited to use my spray and sprayed it all over the house (hey, I am conducting my own test as to the health benefits of lavender!)
You could get really adventures and try all sorts of different combination of essential oils. Like, lavender and vanilla (yummm), or maybe some lilac essential oil in celebration of spring. I found some additional combinations of essential oils here that I just might have to try next time.
Wouldn't these be great?
One word of caution, make sure all your ingredients are free of coloring. I wouldn't want you to ruin any bedding.
Have you made your own linen spray before? What combination of oils did you use?
Happy creating!
